30-Nov-2010
On Saturday 6th November 2010, GAGAL held its first official Open Day. We opened our doors from 9am – 1pm with the official “Painting of the Open Day Board” by Liz Cunningham, and thank you speeches by GAGAL’s new Chairman of the Board Peter Corones, taking place at 10am.
The purpose of the Open Day was to let local people and industries see what is available from GAGAL. “The open day was for the whole community and a perfect opportunity for those wanting to break into the trades and services industry. There were a number of Field Officers, workshop supervisors and trainers on site to talk to and answer any questions people had,” Kerry said. “It was for parents looking for different trade opportunities for their children; it was for kids thinking of doing an apprenticeships; it was for industry looking to offload work or thinking of using us.”
We had a really good response from the day, gaining new Host employers, jobs for the GAGAL Technical Training Centre and participants for programs. In 2011, GAGAL will open its doors again with the proposed date being 8th October.
