Back on Track (BOT)

Age Group = 15 to 17 year olds

Back on Track is a program designed to assist young people who are at risk or have disengaged from mainstream schooling.

Non-attendance and incomplete educational histories prevent young people from reaching their full potential.   Reasons behind failing to complete formal education can be numerous, complicated and not easily catered for within traditional educational settings. Back on Track is designed to cater for these needs.

Back on Track provides an alternative to the school environment, structuring teaching around individual needs to assist over time with the transition back into a formal educational setting or onto a further training/career path/employment.

Participants are provided with formal training such as Access 10 (5 Math modules/5 English Modules = Year 10 Math and English pass) along with life skills, communication, health, hygiene, safety and workplace etiquette awareness sessions in small non threatening groups. Participants will have access to hands on training in workshops and formal training to enhance these skills.

Emphasis is on reengaging the young person, building confidence and self-esteem and empowering them with skills, knowledge and support networks to make informed decisions for their future.

The program runs all year except during school holidays, we specifically encourage indigenous participants. Referrals are made by the individual, Education Department, Schools, Family, Friends, Youth Justice, Youth Support and Community Groups.
