The GAGAL Technical Training Centre (GTTC) comprises a series of commercial workshops covering the trades of metal fabrication, machining (fitting and turning), painting and construction (cabinetmaking and carpentry) and also comprises a number of training rooms.  The workshops are staffed by well qualified and experienced trades people who act as trainers, supervisors and mentors for GAGAL apprentices.

The workshops are able to tender for commercial work from industry.  This provides invaluable training opportunities for GAGAL apprentices who are required to produce work to a quality standard and in a commercial time frame.

The workshops act as “incubators” for first year apprentices.  They allow young people to experience the trade of their choice and be assessed by world class tradespeople prior to taking on an apprenticeship.  The apprentice then spends the next 2-3 months in the workshops undertaking the first block of college and honing hand skills.  This ensures that our apprentices are at industry standard prior to be placed with a host employers and that they are productive from the first day.

GAGAL delivers the off the job component of the relevant training packages in these well resourced facilities under a co-provider agreement with a RTO.  The theory is delivered in the training rooms and immediately reinforced on the workshop floor.
