Safety Training... "Getting you home safely"


GAGAL provides accredited and non-accredited courses in Safety Training, our accredited trainer (Peter Knight) has 31 years industry experience including 12 years as a Work Place Health and Safety Officer and conducts the following course on site at 28 Beckinsale Street. The information below states what course are available, the costs involved and the duration of the course.

Accredited Courses

 

Construction Industry White Card

The Construction Industry White Card is a nationally recognised course that allows participants to work on a job site. GAGAL holds classes of up to 20 participants at one time. The cost of the course is $40 per student or $70 per person if “student” does not apply. All participants will receive a White Card on the day of completion with their certificates following in the mail. The duration of the course is 6-8 hours.

Work Safely

GAGAL in conjunction with IFAP, Industrial Foundation for Accident Prevention, provides participants with basic information required to work safely in high risk industrial work environments. The course is made up of six short theory elements and four practical training sessions. Participants are assessed using a series of practical assessments which will be conducted in stages throughout the day. A statement of attainment for MSAPMOHS200A Work Safely and photo ID will be issued to those participants who successfully complete the Work Safely course. The cost of the course is $195 per person (includes lunch) and will take up to 8 hours to complete (1 day).

Confined Space & Confined Space Standby Person

This course is delivered in conjunction with Careers Australia Institute of Training, to deliver nationally recognised accredited courses MSAPMP205B & MSAPER200B that will give participants the knowledge and qualification needed to work in a confined space and to be a confident Standby Person. Participants will be provided with a card and Statement of Attainment for MSAPMP205B & MSAPER200B which will be mailed out. The cost of the course for classes 8-12 is $220 per person classes 5-7 will cost $270. This course take 12 hours to complete (1.5 days).

Working Safely at Heights

This course is delivered in conjunction with Careers Australia Institute of Training, to deliver an accredited course MNMG237A that will provide participants with the knowledge and qualification to work safely at height. The cost of the course is $220 per person for a class of 8-10 or $270 per person for classes 5-7 and will take 8 hours to complete (1 day) if lunch is to be provided please add an extra $15 per person.

Undertake Manual handling

This course is delivered in conjunction with Careers Australia Institute of Training, to provide participants with qualification MEM11001B which gives participant the knowledge and skills to participate in preventing Manual Handling injuries, safely undertake manual handling tasks and reducing the risk of injury. The cost of this course is $70 per person, classes size min 10 participant at any one time.

Non Accredited Courses

All non accredited course are scheduled for an hour depending on class sizes and participation levels, however the Grinding Course can take up to two hours to complete as there is also a practical component involved. The cost associated with these non accredited courses is $55 per hour per course.

Slips, Trips and Fall’s

 

 

 

The course provides practical advice for controlling the risk of injury from slips, trips and falls in the workplace. The duration of the course is 1 hour.

Sun Safe Awareness

Australia records some of the highest levels of UV in the world (especially the northern states, i.e. Queensland where UV is high to extreme all year round). Overexposure to UV from sunlight can result in severe sunburn or the development of skin cancer. Our course is aimed at providing participants with the knowledge and understanding needed to protect themselves when working outdoors.

Vehicle Safety Awareness

This course involves a theory and practical test. Participants will learn the correct methods of tying down loads, how to store equipment on the back of trucks and speed limits. Members of the police department attend this course to discuss the importance of road rules and your responsibility as a driver.

Grinding Awareness

This course was designed to alert participants to the injury types that can be sustained when using grinders. Participants will learn the importance of using the right equipment e.g. guard controls, PPE and other safety devices. Theory can take up to 20 minutes to complete with the practical taking up to 40 minutes depending on class sizes.

Risk Assessment and Rescue Plans

These courses will provide participants with the knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments and Rescue Plans. Participants will learn why Risk Assessment and Rescue Plans need to be conducted and the importance they have in the work force.
