1. What is a Traineeship?
A traineeship is a job that combines paid employment with the structured training required to gain a non-trade qualification. Traineeships generally take one to two years to complete and provide recognised training for a specific industry. Along with this acquired skill, a traineeship also demonstrates a commitment to working in the industry. Some trainees will be required to undertake practical and theoretical tests within a classroom environment. Popular traineeship industries include hospitality, aged care, business administration, civil construction, child care, retail, engineering production, clothing production, horticulture, warehousing, information technology and library. For more information on traineeships in general, please visit the Queensland Government’s Department of Education and Training website: www.det.qld.gov.au

2. Who can undertake a traineeship?
Traineeships are open to anyone between the ages of 15 and 65 who has not already completed two certificate II or a certificate III or higher (this also includes university degrees and trade qualifications). It is preferred that applicants have a minimum education level of Year 10 but this is not essential and some traineeships will require certain education requirements.

This also allows the applicant an opportunity to ask any questions he or she may have regarding traineeships.
