The Youth Support Coordinator Initiative is a statewide program aimed at supporting young people aged 14 to 17 years at risk of disengaging to move into and through the Senior phase of Schooling. The Youth Support Coordinators (YSC) Program operates within the education sector and works closely with students to prevent them from disengaging from either “learning or earning”. The program is funded by the Department of Communities and the Department of Education and addresses priorities in the Queensland Government’s Youth Attainment and Transitions Plan. GAGAL employs two YSCs in Gladstone and one in Biloela.
