Apprenticeship - Electrical

Gladstone Area Group Apprentices Limited (GAGAL), together with our client, is seeking applications from persons wishing to undertake a Certificate III in Electrotechnology trade as an Apprentice Electrician, commencing in August 2019.  The Apprentice Electrician will be exposed to a wide range of electrical experience with particular focus on processes, whilst undergoing structured training and being mentored by a qualified Electrician.

Essential requirements for role:

  • Completion of Year 12 Senior Certificate of Education
  • Minimum of Sound Achievement in Year 12 Mathematics B (or equivalent) and English
  • Work Safely in Construction Industry (white card)
  • Willingness to undertake all duties, including routine workshop tasks
  • Ability to work with regular supervision
  • Use initiative in relation to day to day activities
  • Be capable of working independently or as a member of a team
  • Safely and competently complete physical tasks, as required
  • Communication skills to liaise with employees and customers
  • Ability to complete required paperwork and follow instructions
  • Ability to pass medical screening and National Police check

Desirable qualifications and experience:

  • Completion of VET or school subjects in Engineering and CAD/Graphics
  • Confined space basic ticket
  • C class drivers licence

Work environment and physical demands:

This position requires immunisation against Hepatitis A/B and Tetanus.

This position is an outdoor role and will require the employee to carry out physical tasks which may include manual handling, repetitive bending, kneeling, twisting and/or squatting, lifting, working in confined spaces and working at heights.  Should the requirement to work in confined spaces be an essential component of this role, the absence of facial hair below eye level is necessary to ensure an appropriate facial seal when using routine or emergency breathing apparatus.  This position may be required to work outside normal hours and travel as required.
